Writing an article
Growing up in the Countryside vs. Growing up in the City
You have just come back from a student exchange in England. You spent one week at Abbotsholme School in the English countryside. You have been asked to write an article for their school newspaper about the advantages and disadvantages of growing up in the countryside compared to growing up in a big city like Hamburg.
Your article should:
  • have its own headline
  • include an introduction/a short description of your exchange
  • include two arguments for and two arguments against growing up in the countryside
  • end with your own opinion and reasons for it
These aspects might help you:
  • distance to school, friends, malls etc.
  • hobbies
  • part time jobs
  • health
  • own idea
Write between 170 - 250 words.
Aufgabe zum Erreichen der Note E1:
You are part of the committee organising the next exchange trip to Abbotsholme School. Write a short article for the next participants and include what to expect and how to prepare for the trip. Write about 50 words.

Countryside vs. Cityside - who's gonna win?
Headline
It's always the same: If you grow up in the countryside, you hate it and wish you would live in a city where options are nearly limitless. If you grow up in a city, you hate it and wish you could live on the countryside where you are surrounded by beautiful landscapes. But which place is more preferrable?
Introduction
Growing up on the countryside, you are much freer to do whatever you want to do. Parents are much less concerned about you going to school by yourself for instance. That is due to the fact, that living in the country, there are a lot less potential dangers or criminals. You don't have to be afraid of walking home at night or of not having locked your bike when you don't need it - you will find it safe and sound just where you left it! Moreover, you can spend your time outdoors surrounded by woods, mountains, lakes or vast fields. This is much healthier for you as well - inhaling fresh air and being able to do sports outdoors.
However, living in the city has advantages as well. Young people are pretty flexible in their choices. They can pick which school they will attend, they can spend their free time however they like, going to the movies, going to the mall or visiting a museum - literally everything is available in the city. Furthermore, teenagers are able to earn their own money much more easily. There are a lot more cafes, shops or other possibilities to work and earn money. This means growing independency from parents as well!
Citylife
Wouldn't it be nice to live in a suburb then? You could enjoy both the countryside and the citylife whenever you wanted!
