Beach hut

In the early 1700s, Scarborough Spa, in the northeast of England, became one

machines are the early version of what is today the beach hut.

The modern beach hut is a simple wooden construction. Every hut measures

around 2.1 metres by 2.4 metres and comforts are basic. It’s a place to put

deckchairs and towels, a place to enjoy a cup of tea away (7) the heat, the cold,

the wind or the rain. Beach huts are about fun. They are often (8) in bright

colours and their names are sometimes wordplays related to life at the seaside
