Have you ever picked up a book that completely changed your perspective? That’s exactly what happened to me last summer when a close friend recommended Wonder by R.J. Palacio. I decided to give it a try, and I couldn't put it down!
What I loved most about the story was its incredible heart and honesty. It follows August "Auggie" Pullman, a ten-year-old boy with a severe facial deformity, as he enters a mainstream school for the very first time. The plot is emotionally gripping and switches between different viewpoints, showing how Auggie’s presence affects those around him. It is a powerful reminder to always choose kindness.
My favourite character is Auggie himself. Despite facing cruel bullying and isolation, he remains witty, brave, and remarkably empathetic. His sense of humor and resilience in tough situations made me root for him from the very first page.
In my opinion, this book should definitely be turned into a film. The vibrant characters and emotional storylines would translate brilliantly to the big screen. A movie adaptation could bring Auggie’s inspiring journey to an even wider audience, spreading its crucial message of acceptance worldwide.
