You have a podcast about pop culture. How did you start it?

Max Miller

I started my podcast about two years ago. I’ve always been interested in movies, music, and games. During the summer holidays, I had a lot of free time and wanted to do something creative. So I learned how to record and edit by watching video tutorials. At the beginning, it was not easy because I didn’t have good equipment – especially microphones can be quite expensive.

What is your podcast about?

Max Miller

Every week I talk about new things in pop culture – new films, songs, and internet trends. I also like to discuss how pop culture connects people around the world. Sometimes I invite guests to share their opinions or stories. It’s important to be friendly and listen carefully. Sometimes guests talk at the same time. When that happens, I have to edit a lot. For that I use free editing software.

How do you prepare for your episodes?

Max Miller

I read pop culture news and check what’s trending online. Then I write short notes and think about what will be interesting for my listeners. If I have a guest, I prepare some easy but fun questions. Before recording, I drink some tea, practice speaking clearly, and see how I sound. I also check all my devices. Once my laptop battery died in the middle of a great conversation and I lost everything. Now I always make sure it’s fully charged.

Do you have any advice for beginners just starting to record?

Max Miller

I started with just a microphone, old headphones, and a laptop. Sometimes I forgot to press the record button – that was the worst! Then I had to start again from the beginning. You really need patience for podcasting. Keep calm and don’t panic. If something goes wrong, just try again.
