Give your opinion.
Choose one of the following statements and write about 100 words. Note: These statements contain only some possible arguments. You can also use a different kind of argumentation. People should use public transport only. I partially agree with this statement.
On the one hand, using public transport would reduce car traffic and therefore fewer accidents would occur. Likewise, public transportation has a good impact on the environment. On the other hand, public transportation is sometimes too expensive for students. In addition, trains and buses are regularly overcrowded, especially in the morning, so they are often late due to the high volume of passengers. In the end, I think public transportation is a good option for the whole society that cannot afford a car or tries to reduce air pollution. However, to make public transportation more attractive, changes in the organization are required.
Even though, I admit that young people have more opportunities to spend their spare time when spending money. However, I think it is not obligatory. Going to the park, swimming in the lake or doing sports like cycling can be done without money and bring lots of joy. I think it is more important to cultivate your social contacts instead of spending money. In my leisure time, for example, I enjoy going for a hike with my family. All in all, I think money is important in many situations and can give you a certain kind of freedom, however, I refuse to think it’s the only way of enjoying our spare time.
On the one hand, I think a computer can come in handy as a work tool, when you need to search the internet for school, for example. Or it gives you the chance to stay in touch with long-distance friends when you are not in the mood of waiting for a letter for too long. On the other hand, saying “boring” is very dramatic, in my opinion. I think we can all live just fine without computers even though it is practical to have them for work or school, but we should not need them to have fun in our lives.

Application for the job as a computer supporter for seniors. Dear Madam and Sir,
I am very interested in your job offer to support your residents with computers.
I am 16 years old and am going to finish school this year. I’m very passionate about working with computers and always had very good results in computer class. After school, my goal is to study computer science. My skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator and some programming basics. I enjoy working with people very much and tutored my classmates and my parents in informatics before. I would be happy to come to your Court Care Home once a week to not only teach your residence but to spend time with them as well. I think, it is important to give something back to the elderly community of our society and I would love to help them develop some computer skills. I’m good at working with other people and can blend into new teams easily. I would love to join your team and look forward to hearing back from you soon.
Best regards, ...

Write a story
Write about one of the following pictures in about 160 words. Michelle had been waiting for this day for weeks. She and her friends are going to this big rollercoaster park, and they’re almost there. She loves rollercoasters. The tickling feeling in your stomach when the wagon is close to going over the edge. It kind of feels like flying. When they’re finally there, the friends run inside and stand in line for the biggest rollercoaster first thing. They can already hear people screaming. One guy even walks outside looking greenish. Sarah grabs Michelle’s arm. Sarah doesn’t like rollercoasters as much as Michelle and is nervous already. When it is their turn, Sarah sits beside Michelle holding her hand. The wagon moves forward slowly, climbing higher and higher. Michelle looks at Sarah and sees that she’s squeezing her eyes shut. She tells her that they can go on a slower attraction after. That doesn’t calm Sarah down, though. They’re close to going over the edge when Michelle throws her arms up in the air with a big smile on her face, thinking, “This is the best feeling in the world …”

Picture two:
May I introduce you to Lesslie? She is a nine-year-old Labrador and has been in our Coast Guard team since she was a puppy. Lesslie helped to rescue around 35 people during her time on duty. She was always very helpful in calming down rescued people. Lesslie also did a great job finding people in danger when the human eye couldn’t get a hold of them. As a puppy, she had special training on finding victims and learned how to swim very fast. She was able to swim so fast that she even won the gold medal at a tournament a few years ago. Since she’s been doing this job for quite a while now, she will be retiring this year. We want to give her the chance to get some puppies herself. I will take her home with me, where she can spend the rest of her life in peace. She did a great job, and we will miss her a lot on duty.

Write a diary entry.
Complete the diary entry in about 160 words. Dear diary,
You won't believe it. This morning something really strange happened to me. I woke up at 7 in the morning, even though it is Sunday! Well, since I couldn’t get back to sleep, I decided to go for a run instead. I got dressed in my running outfit and walked down the stairs. When I was going into the kitchen, I glimpsed at the front door and saw a shadow behind the glass front. The shadow was bending down to the ground. I walked to the door very slowly, so the figure wouldn’t hear me. But then I tripped over a ball in the hallway. The shadow startled and looked me directly in the eye. Staring at each other, we stood there for a couple of seconds when the figure turned around and ran away. Slowly, I opened the door and peeked outside. I couldn’t believe what I saw in front of our door. There were laying flowers, chocolate, and a letter. The letter was not signed, so I had no idea from whom it was. Apparently, I had a secret admirer...
