Possible introductions to the topic and the argumentation
1. Describe the pictures:
- The first picture shows a woman on stage holding a microphone. She is standing in front of bright spotlights, which creates a powerful atmosphere. The picture suggests that she might be a singer or performer admired by many people.
- The second picture shows a man and a boy in front of a mirror. The man is shaving, and the boy is copying him with foam on his face. They are smiling at each other, which shows a warm and close relationship. The boy clearly sees the man as a role model.
2. Talk about positive and negative aspects of role models:
- A positive aspect is that role models can inspire people to follow their dreams. For example, a famous athlete or musician can motivate young people to work hard and believe in themselves.
- Role models can also give good examples of values such as discipline, kindness, or responsibility. Parents and teachers often play this role in everyday life.
- However, there are also negative aspects. Some celebrities may show unhealthy lifestyles, for example with alcohol, drugs, or arrogance. Young people might copy this behaviour without thinking about the consequences.
3. Discuss the importance of role models in the life of young people:
- Role models are very important for young people, because they are still searching for their identity and need orientation. By looking up to someone, they can develop goals and dreams for their own future.
- Good role models can strengthen self-confidence and encourage positive behaviour. For example, a teacher who believes in a student can make a big difference.
- At the same time, it is important for young people to learn to think critically. They should not follow every trend or copy everything, but choose carefully who they admire and why.
