RC 1 THE GREEN THUMB GURU
The Green Thumb Guru
1
Iris Vliet, a 34 year old celebrated plant blogger from Dordrecht, Amsterdam,
2
has a significant following on social media due to her passion for plants. Iris
3
cannot imagine her home without plants as her family has always had indoor
4
plants.
5
Following her graduation as a photographer, she started to experiment with
6
greenery in her studio. The empty corridors of the workspace were decorated
7
with some plants that people had put by the roadside and Iris took to her
8
studio. To her surprise, people began to add more plants to the collection.
9
Some even adopted plants and took them home. The overwhelming response
10
inspired Iris to start teaching others how to take care of plants.
11
Iris started sharing tips and techniques on social media and even organised
12
workshops to share her knowledge. Recently, Iris released her third book on
13
plants.
14
Her love for plants led her to explore their natural environment in the jungle,
15
where she discovered the significance of essential factors such as humidity and
16
light in their growth. She is pleased to have a garden of her own, which enables
17
her to grow different kinds of plants. This provides a balanced environment of
18
various plant species.
19
Iris believes that taking care of plants is a therapeutic and meditative
20
experience and she enjoys sharing her passion with others.
21
Her blog is a cool place where she talks about plants – how to care for them,
22
fun facts and why they are so amazing. From easy plant care tips to stories
23
about her favourite plants, her blog is a hub for plant enthusiasts, whether you
24
are a beginner or a pro. What’s cool about Iris’ blog is how she writes. She
25
makes tricky plant stuff easy to understand by mixing science with her own
26
experience. Her blog covers lots of topics, like how to make indoor gardens
27
work and why it is important to look after our environment. Of course, Iris also
28
loves sharing pictures of plants on social media, answering questions from her
29
followers, and even joining challenges to get people excited about plants. For
30
Iris, it is not just about getting more followers or being popular. She wants to
31
bring people together who love plants and nature.
32
Besides her blog work, Iris makes sure to spend some time with her plants every
33
day, especially during hectic periods of work and raising a young child. It
34
provides her with a sense of peace and calmness and they bring joy to her life.
35
Taking care of plants has helped Iris to feel more grounded.
36
Through her blog, she wants to encourage others to care for the environment
37
and appreciate the little things around us.
38
In a big online world, Iris' blog shines brightly because of her love for the natural
39
world. Her dedication to sharing her plant passion has surely educated and
40
inspired others to take a closer look at the beauty of nature. Iris' journey as a
41
plant blogger shows that a passion for nature can make a difference — one blog
42
post at a time.

RC2 BOOKS OVER MOVIES
Books over movies
1
In today's digital age, where movies and TV shows are available at the click of a
2
button, it is easy to overlook the simple pleasure of reading a well-written novel.
3
However, for many people, getting lost in the pages of a good book goes way beyond
4
the entertainment of simply watching a movie. There are several reasons why books
5
can be preferred over movies.
6
Firstly, books provide a deeper level of engagement and imagination. When reading a
7
book, the readers have the freedom to visualize the scenes and characters in their
8
own unique way, which can be a highly personal experience. In contrast, movies give
9
a fixed visual representation that may not match the reader's imagination and might
10
lead to a little frustration. For example, in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" series, readers
11
can picture Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in their minds, with its grand
12
halls and moving staircases. This imaginative process allows us to connect with the
13
story in a more meaningful way. However, each reader's interpretation is personal
14
and can differ from the movie adaptation.
15
Secondly, characters and their motivations are often explored more fully in books.
16
Because of the limitation of time in a movie, certain details and character development
17
may be shortened or completely left out. In contrast, books have the luxury of space
18
to give a more complex view into the thoughts, feelings and backstory of a certain
19
character. Take, for instance, the character of Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The
20
Great Gatsby." In the book, readers are given a thorough understanding of Gatsby's
21
past, his motivations, and his inner conflict. This background information allows
22
readers to form a connection with the character and understand his or her actions. In
23
the movie adaptation, however, some of these aspects may be overlooked or
24
simplified.
25
Lastly, books offer a slower, more thoughtful pace compared to movies. While movies
26
can be fast-paced and visually stimulating, books allow readers to enjoy the story at
27
their own pace. Readers can pause, reflect, and reread passages that catch their
28
interest. This experience can lead to a greater appreciation for the language, the
29
themes, and the overall narrative structure of the book. In conclusion, while movies
30
certainly have their advantages, books often provide a more personal experience.
31
So, the next time you find yourself reaching for the remote control, consider picking
32
up a book instead and embark on a journey that only your imagination can create.
