Possible introductions to the topic and the argumentation
1. Describe the pictures:
- In the first picture, I can see two young people cleaning up a park. They are wearing gloves and putting plastic bottles into a big green bag. They seem to be enjoying themselves, and the picture shows that protecting the environment can also be a positive group activity.
- The second picture shows a woman in an animal shelter. She is holding a dog in her arms and looking kindly at the other dogs behind the fence. This image highlights responsibility and compassion, because she is taking care of animals that need help and attention.
2. Talk about a situation where you took responsibility for someone or something:
- One situation where I had to take responsibility was when I looked after my younger brother. My parents were not at home, so I had to make sure he did his homework, ate dinner, and got ready for bed. It was a challenge, but I felt proud because I managed everything on my own.
- I also regularly take responsibility for our family dog. I feed him, take him for walks, and play with him. This experience has taught me that responsibility means being reliable and caring, even when it is sometimes inconvenient.
3. Comment on the saying “We are not only responsible for what we do, but also for what we do not do.”
- I think this saying means that responsibility is not only about our actions, but also about our choices to stay passive. If we decide not to act, it can also have serious consequences.
- For example, if we see rubbish in the park and do nothing, the problem will continue. If nobody helps, the environment will suffer. In the same way, if we see someone being bullied and do not speak up, we are also responsible for the situation.
- In my opinion, the saying is very true, because society only improves if people take action. That is why I believe responsibility is about doing the right thing, even when it is easier to do nothing.
