Josh Parker was known for his big smile and friendly personality wherever he went. But when his family moved to a new town, everything changed. At his new school, Josh didn’t know anyone. During the breaks, he often stood alone and watched the other students laughing with their friends. He felt lonely and missed his old life.
After a few weeks, Josh started thinking that he would never find new friends. One morning, he even told his mum that he didn’t want to go to school anymore. She listened to him and encouraged him to talk to someone at school.
That day, Josh finally decided to speak to his class teacher, Mr Brown. He told him how lonely he felt. Mr Brown was understanding and suggested that Josh join the school’s basketball club because he knew Josh loved sports.
At first, Josh was nervous, but he went to basketball practice that afternoon. Soon, he started talking to two boys from his class. They laughed together and even invited him to sit with them the next day.
A few weeks later, Josh had his big smile back. He had learned that asking for help wasn’t a weakness. Sometimes, it was the first step towards making things better.
